2020 Keynote Speaker
William Kamkwamba is a New York Times bestselling author and innovator where he designs development projects, including safe water delivery and educational access. William tells his journey of how he achieved his dream of bringing electricity, light, and the promise of a better life to his family and his village in memoir The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind: Creating Currents of Electricity and Hope, co-authored with Bryan Mealer. Among other distinctions, William is a TED Fellow, IDEO.org Global Fellow, and co-founder of Moving Windmills Project. William helps bridge the gap between “knowing” and “doing” by mentoring young people on building their own solutions. In his free time, William enjoys good music and Wimbe United games. William is from Kasungu and currently splits his time between Malawi and North Carolina.
