AFFORDABILITY, MOTIVATION, AND EARLY MOMENTUM: MICRO-SCHOLARSHIPS AS A PATHWAY TO TRANSFER

Arizona State University and the Maricopa County Community College District have reframed strategies for removing financial barriers, increasing early engagement, and developing student confidence by leveraging RaiseMe micro-scholarships as a student success strategy. This approach seeks to recognize the financial, academic, and social vulnerabilities that transfer students often face, and to address them early in the transfer pathway planning process.

This interactive session will explore:
  • The collaboration process used by ASU and MCCCD to develop micro-scholarship offerings
  • Best practices for engaging students in the RaiseMe program
  • Initial outcomes at the conclusion of the pilot year

About AZTransfer

FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS, academic leaders from each of Arizona’s public postsecondary institutions have collaborated to support transfer student success. Known as the AZTransfer Steering Committee, this coordinating body ensures Arizona’s students have access to efficient, seamless, and simple ways to transfer from a community college to a university in Arizona. Born out of legislation passed in 1996, the AZTransfer Steering Committee works to fulfill a promise to provide high-quality educational pathways that lead to baccalaureate degree completion for all Arizonans.
